To thrive, it is important you understand the entire industry within which you are operating. There are many opportunities that can be created when you understand the big picture.
For instance, if you are a teacher, it means you are working in the education sector. Teaching in the classroom is only 1 out of hundreds of thousands of opportunities in the education sector.
If you teach in the classroom, look around your classroom, everything that is present in the classroom can be associated with the education sector. The furniture, the teaching aids, the wall painting, books, etc. Imagine venturing into the distribution of school furniture for medium and low-income schools. As a teacher, you will enjoy more trust in that trade than a mere furniture maker will. And you don’t have to be a furniture maker to do this. Just work on specifications, pricing, marketing and have a standby furniture maker that will be ready to construct for you at any time.
Once you walk into any school, you will speak the language the schools understand better and they will negotiate with you more than any other.

How about school uniform, who will know the appropriate uniform for a particular age group, for a school location, etc than a teacher will do.
This is not only applicable to the teaching profession but to all others.
Therefore, take your time to study the entire industry and you will be astonished by the number of ideas and opportunities you can generate.
