Teaching can be limiting, I advice you to quit
By Abdulrafiu Arikewuyo
In her resignation speech viral video, a teacher, Amanda Coffman said “several years ago, a good friend decided to leave education and she said to me ‘Amanda, teaching is like a bad marriage, you never get your needs met but you stay there for the kids’.”
Going to the classroom daily and preparing for lessons, writing lesson plans, setting exam and test questions, grading, and responding to parents’ inquiries about their children can leave teachers in a state of unconsciousness about their personal well-being, personal growth, and ambitious pursuit.
These tasks can limit a teacher from looking and thinking beyond the 4 walls of the classroom. eventually, this leaves loads of teachers empty and frustrated about their job. But, this is a manifestation of the state of the mind. despite proclaiming passion for the job, a lot of teachers are stuck with a close to complete lack of clarity about where their career is heading. in some extreme cases, it even affects their personal life. If this resonates with you, I advise you to quit.
Quit what?
as we advance into 2023, I invite you to quit the limiting mindset as a teacher. I advise you to see beyond the four walls of your classroom and your school.
I invite you to a positive mindset re-engineering, to see the big picture of the sector you are working in. to see the robustness of the opportunity that lies ahead.
My dear colleague, I sincerely invite you to a positive space of abundance where lies a plethora of goodness for you and me. The education sector is big, the opportunities are enormous. as we advance into 2023, I call on you to evaluate yourself and enter into the year with a positive mindset.
While a change of mindset is good, it is not sufficient for the success you desire in 2023. A determination to take action towards your defined goals is equally essential.
The last ingredient is consistency. Success they say, is at the end of consistency.
With these three, you are ready to take charge of your life without limiting yourself to the classroom.
Let’s meet at the top in 2023.
